Maria S. Romis

DOYLESTOWN – Maria Soledad Romis, age 84, passed away on March 10, 2024.

Maria was born on February 4, 1940 in Caracas, Venezuela to the late Juan and Maria Teresa Madinaveitia. Maria traveled to the U.S. to visit her sister in Akron, and while there, she met the love of her life, John. They married on April 16, 1966, and later moved to Doylestown where they raised their family together. She was a resident of Doylestown for 50 years and was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church. 

Devoted to her family, Maria loved being a mother and spending time with her children, but especially treasured her role as Granny. She was a wonderful mother and was always there when we needed her. She spent her summer days working in her gardens which were always filled with beautiful flowers. Maria also enjoyed sewing and knitting for her family and others. Her spirited personality was loved by all and will be dearly missed.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her daughter, Christina Romis. Maria is survived by her beloved husband of 57 years, John; children, Teresa (Jeff) Knisely of Lake Havasu, AZ, Marisol (Mark) Storad of Doylestown, Mariana (Jim) Alexander of Doylestown, and John (Scott) Romis of New York, NY. She was cherished Granny to nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and one on the way: Mark (Jane), Jill (Ben Gonzales), Michael (Kenzie), Maegan, Samantha, Olivia, Marissa, Julia, Hayden, Walton, and Carlyle; sisters, Carmen Landa and Teresa Dominguez of Venezuela; nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, March 18, 2024 at 11 a.m. at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church, 4022 Johnson Rd., Norton, OH, 44203 with Fr. Peter Morris, Celebrant. Inurnment will take place at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic School.
